Chapter 1 – Greedlegrot and the Grots 

On a faraway planet, much farther than you can see even with the most powerful telescope in the world, is a small planet called Greedlegrot. Despite its unattractive name, the planet itself is beautiful, full of colourful flowers and trees, even the grass is pink, everywhere is just bursting with vibrant colour. The inhabitants of the planet, they are called Grots, are just as colourful as their planet, with skin and hair in stark contrast to each other. You may be thinking that all this colour sounds like it would hurt your eyes, but it really doesn’t, it is just beautiful. 

On this planet lives a young boy called Allen, he lives with his two parents and his younger sister. Allen is eight years old by Earth years, but in Greedlegrot they measure age slightly differently and do not call 12 months a year. So, days are called Yads, months are called Thom and a year is called Rey. Strangely though hours minutes and seconds are the same, however they do not have 24-hour days, their days are 26 and a half hours. So, in Greedlegrot time, Allen was 8 Rey his younger sister was 5 Rey and her name is Audrey. Allen and his family were a beautiful red colour with purple hair, but each family are different, the family name also is associated with their dominating colour, Allen’s family name is Crimson.  

The general build for houses on Greedlegrot, make the houses look fairy tale like. Allen’s is no exception, his house is a cottage style with a large tower with the bedrooms in, this is shaped like a mushroom. Like everything on Greedlegrot the colours of the buildings are also in contrast with each other. Allen’s house has the colours yellow, green, blue and purple in. 

The town they live in is called Wollarch, his family were one of the first families to ever live there. When they first settled there, all they had were huts and the pink grass, and had to rely on moopons for transportation. Moopons are large creatures standing (about the same height as a transit van), with antlers, a short snout and long swishy tail. They are no longer used as the main transportation, but people still like to ride them as a hobby. Now the town is full of narrow roads, which is for grots who are walking or on their floaty skates. The main transportation now is flying and to do this the Grots ride in a rac. They are given commands by a Grot and then they fly themselves, so they can just sit back and relax. The buildings are all shapes and sizes, with the biggest being the cloud factory, which is where Allens dad works. As the name suggests it is a building that's sole purpose is to produce clouds or all varied sizes and variety. These clouds are then shipped out across the stars to other planets, to ensure they get the weather they need to thrive. 

The whole planet is just a patchwork of beautiful colours, so it is no wonder that its inhabitants are incredibly happy. The Grots are happy and kind to the point that there is no need for police or laws, everyone is just respectful. 

However, despite everywhere being beautiful and everyone being respectful to the that law enforcement isn’t necessary, it does not mean that the youngsters couldn’t be little pickles when the opportunity arose. 

Allen seems to find such opportunities regularly; he never means any harm as he is a good boy but does seem to manage to get himself into naughty situations.
